Tony A. Becenti Jr.

MUHOLLAND WELL — Services for Officer Tony A. Becenti Jr., 43, will be announced at a later date.

Becenti died Oct. 19, 2011, in Crownpoint. He was born May 6, 1968, in Crownpoint, into the Black Streak of Forest People Clan born for the Water Flows Together People Clan.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Ronald ‘Ron’ M. Johnson

LUKACHUKAI, Ariz. — Funeral services for Ronald Micheal Johnson, 51, will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at the St. Isabel Mission in Lukachukai. Sister Rose Beck will officiate. Burial will be at Lukachukai Community Center.

Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Johnson died Oct. 18, 2011, in Phoenix. He was born July 26, 1960, in Crownpoint, N.M., into the Tangle People Clan born for the Edge Water People Clan.

Johnson worked at BIA Forestry as a foresty technician and construction in masonry, heavy equipment operator and carpenter in Phoenix. He enjoyed rodeos, powwows, hiking and traveling, he was also a Denver Broncos fan.

Survivors include his sons Michael Johnson and Bradley Johnson, both off Navajo, N.M.; daughter Kristanna Davis of Oceanside, Calif.; mother Elizabeth H. Johnson of Lukachukai, Ariz.; brothers Arnold Johnson and Darald Johnson both of Lukachukai; sisters Karen C. Chee of Pretty Rock and Karla James of Lukachukai. He was preceded in death by his father Herman E. Johnson; brother Donald Johnson; sisters Valeria and Sharon Johnson; grandparents Edward B. Harvey and Theresa M. Harvey and Johnnie and Mary Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Gary Morris, Darald Johnson, Micheal Johnson, Emerson Roanhorse, George Sandoval Jr. and Duvale Bia.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Lukachukai Chapter House after services.

Tse Bonito Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Ann Largo

THOREAU — Services for Ruth Ann Largo, 82, will be announced at a later date.

Largo died Oct. 20, 2011, in Albuquerque. She was born March 29, 1929, in Smith Lake.

There will be family meetings or donations may be accepted at Rollie Mortuary.

Mark Porch

BELEN — Funeral services for Mark Porch, 84, will be at Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, 418 W. Reinken Ave., Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. and a reception will follow. Burial services will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at 10:30 a.m.

Porch died Oct. 16, 2011. He was born Aug. 10, 1927, in Stigler, Okla.

Porch joined the U.S. Navy at 17, during World War II. After his discharge, he married, started a family and received a degree in business accounting from WSU in Wichita, Kan. In 1996, Mark retired from his accounting position in the oil service field and in 1999, he and Betty moved to Belen.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years Betty; sons, Phil, Stan and Mike; two granddaughters; one grandson; sisters-in-law, Melba and Donna Brown; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Uell and Glen Brown; sister Vivian Sinclair and nephew Mark Brown.

Marie Shirley

GANADO — Funeral services for Marie W. Shirley, 77, will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at Ganado Glory Temple Ministry. The Rev. Gene Martinez will officiate. Burial will be in Ganado Community Cemetery. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. on Saturday,

Shirley died Oct. 17, 2011, in Fort Defiance. She was born June 10, 1938, in Cornfields into the Waters Edge People Clan born for the Bitter Water People Clan.

Shirley attended Cornfields Day School and Phoenix Indian School. She was a housewife and homemaker and occasionally carded and spun wool at local chapters. She enjoyed Navajo song and dance, reading the newspaper, writing, eating out, daily outings to local areas and visiting with family and friends. She loved her great-grandkids company, coloring and educating them with Navajo language and traditions.

Survivors include her sons Kelvin W. Shirley and Ervin W. Shirley, both of Gallup; daughters Lorraine Teller of Churchrock, Laverne Jones of Gallup, Judy Willetto of Gallup, Darlene Shirley of Burnside, Ariz. Lenora Shirley of Ganado and Veronica Miller of Gallup; brothers Mike James of Greasewood, Roy James Jr. of Houck and Everette James of Burnside; sisters Mae Dedman of Chinle; 30 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace Shirley; sons Marvin W. Shirley and Ranbert Shirley; parents Clarence Bahe Woodty and Camillia A. James and one grandson.
Pallbearers will be Monterey Begay, Kevin Shirley, Nathaniel Watchman, Darrel Watchman, Jason McCabe and Sherwin McCabe.

The family will receive relatives and friends one-quarter mile southeast of Ganado Public School.
